1. Bird watching
You will take a 2.5 km route in which you will enjoy the presence of 131 species of birds, including 14 endemic ones. You will be able to observe the Tocororo, a national bird with bright colors; five species of woodpeckers; The Carta Cuba, which due to its size is almost imperceptible, as well as the mockingbird that will delight you with its beautiful song throughout the tour.
2. Las Delicias Trail
This 3 km route winds along the Las Delicias hill until it reaches the San Juan Valley viewpoint. From this site located 330 meters above sea level, you can see the picturesque Las Terrazas Community, while enjoying a picnic enlivened by the singing of birds.
3. La Serafina Trail
With the route of more than 6 km you will enjoy a wide biodiversity of vegetation, flora and fauna. On the way you will go up to an excellent viewpoint from where you can see the picturesque Las Terrazas community, and finally reach the ruins of the Santa Serafina coffee plantation. After the visit, we descend through the valley of the San Juan River until we reach Rancho Curujey.
4. El Contento Trail
It is a 9 km route that winds around the elevation known as El Taburete along its North, East and South flanks. On the way you will visit the ruins of the San Ildefonso and El Contento coffee plantations, plantations that existed in the first half of the 19th century in the Sierra del Rosario Biosphere Reserve.
5. Climbing El Taburete
You will ascend to El Taburete mountain, 452m high. At the top stands a monument dedicated to Che Guevara and from this point you can see the southern plain of the Artemisa province to the Gulf of Batabanó and on the opposite side the San Juan Valley where the Las Terrazas Community stands.
6. Camping
Another option for lovers of adventure, trekking or hiking, is renting tents. Without a doubt one of the best options to take into account if you decide to be directly in contact with nature, these have capacity for 2 and 4 people, offer good ventilation and withstand light rain well. They can be found in Rancho Curujey and in the Baños del Río San Juan. You can rent spaces if you bring your own tent.
